Small-Cap Emerging Markets Fund Delivers High Gains

Emerging market ETF that focuses on small cap names, the First Trust Emerging Markets Small Cap AlphaDEX Fund (FEMS) delivered the biggest gains among the exchange-traded funds tracked by Barron’s, rising 2.2% to close at $36,79 a share.

U.S. stick rose today, with the S&P 500 climbing 0.2% today, and a 0.36% gain coming from the Dow Industrials.

Political turmoil rocked emerging markets this week. China credit rating was downgraded by Moody’s, fueling concerns about global growth. There’s speculation of a Brazil downgrade in the face of yet another corruption scandal. However, Strategas experts argue that global growth is not threatened.

In other developments, GOL Linhas Aereas Inteligentes (GOLL4.Brazil) rose 8.7% and the Banco do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul (BRSR6.Brazil) gained 3.4% in the latest market action.
