UK foreign investment reaches record highs

The United Kingdom's foreign investment reached record highs, driven by an increase from emerging markets, which made it Europe's most popular country for investors.

The total number of projects funded by foreign direct investment climbed to 11 per cent to 2,213, which amount to 116,000 jobs in areas such as life sciences, financial and professional services, energy, and infrastructure.

Outside investors came from 79 countries, a record in the UK for one year. Projects from Latin America tripled, 240 per cent, and Eastern European to 131 per cent.

The US remains the UK's largest source of external investing, with 570 projects, with China in second place with 156, and India with 140.
