Mexico's economy slows in fourth quarter

Mexico's economic growth slowed in the fourth quarter due to a weak peso failed to support the manufacturing sector and low crude prices continued to hinder the energy sector.

Despite an encouraging third quarter performance, gross domestic product grew only 0.6 per cent at the end of 2015 compared to the previous quarter.

Mexico has made strong gains in the services sector, buoyed by an increase in consumer spending, which are offset by the under-performing energy sector.
