Emerging markets narrowing the digital divide

Emerging market countries are quickly catching up to the developed in terms of Internet use and smartphone ownership. In a recent Pew Research Center study, smartphone ownership rose from 21% to 37% over the last two years in emerging markets.

The digital divide is now about 31 points, the lowest ever.

South Korea still maintains the highest rate of smartphone ownership at 88% while Uganda and Ethiopia have the lowest at 4%.
